Sir William Fry Reserve is home to a beautiful playground surrounded by a large, open greenscape, and equipped with convenient amenities, walking tracks, and sporting provisions. It caters for dog lovers, families, and those who love to get active, offering the perfect spot for any occasion or group.
The playground has a really lovely feel, catering for junior and older children alike. The main timber playground unit includes a spiral slide, scrambling wall, balance beam, bridge, and hanging disks. It is also partially sheltered.
There’s a smaller play structure that appears well used, appealing to younger kids. It includes a steering wheel, shop fronts, balance beam, climbing frame, and a slide.
The main attraction seems to be the metal slide atop a tree-lined hill, where you’ll hear much laughter and squealing of happy children. You’ll also find a range of swings, sandpit with digger, and plenty of room for the kids to explore nature.
Located alongside the playground there’s a sheltered bbq area with seating and tables. Nearby there’s a timber deck that looks out onto the pond/wetlands. You may be lucky enough to spot some ducklings amongst the bird life!
It’s worth going for a walk along the trail as there’s lots to discover, such as a timber lookout on top of a hill. Almaas enjoyed rolling down the hill here as did her mum and dad!!
It may be important to note that the Kingston Farmers Market is held at the reserve on the 1st Saturday of every month via Highett entry (8am-12:30pm). Good to know if you’re wanting to avoid crowds, or could do with giving your kids a play while you get some fresh produce!!
