If you’re looking for a playground that ticks all the boxes in terms of variety for different ages and interests, coupled with convenient amenities, then this is it. For a start, Bicentennial Park playground is fully enclosed, giving you peace of mind to experience the adventures that await you.
Amongst the usual staples, this place includes a liberty swing, a hammock, and a “Smurf village” featuring a giant cow and some small huts for junior adventurers to explore.
Inside these huts you will find a range of themes and play stimuli, including, cartoon imagery, miniature slide, and musical instruments.
Further along from the miniature village, there are two main play structures for older kids. One sits atop “Mount Chelsea” and features two descending large wave slides. There is a timber adventure play structure that the kids need to find their way through in order to reach the slides, so they’ll need to be prepared to climb, run and crawl!
The second structure/play area is located at the foot of the hill, and provides plenty of balancing and climbing equipment, as well as a boat and spinning carousel.
Also surrounding “Mt Chelsea” (and still within the fenced off area) is a small field featuring a soccer goal on one side and football posts on the other.
The “Mount Chelsea Express” train was a winner for us, as was the sandpit, of which there are two. The train seems to attract all ages, but also provides a space for younger siblings to watch on as the bigger kids explore Mt Chelsea.
You will find numerous sheltered seating options and BBQ facilities within the enclosed area, as well as places to spread a blanket under the shade of a tree.
There is even an outdoor gym for the fitness conscious out there!
As a further note, it is well worth bringing along your scooter or skateboard and having a look at the nearby skate park. This space also has a basketball court!!! If the skate park and courts don’t interest you, the outdoor DJ booth (USB features also) is totally worth checking out, and proved to be a hoot for our little family.
